Understanding Your 1098-T Tax Form
If you're enrolled at Orange Technical College and paying for your education, you may receive a 1098-T tax form each year. The IRS Form 1098-T, Tuition Statement, reports the qualified tuition and related expenses you paid during the tax year, which may help you claim valuable education tax credits like the American Opportunity Tax Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit when filing your federal tax return.
As an OTC student, understanding your 1098-T form can help you maximize potential tax benefits and reduce your overall education costs. Whether you're enrolled full-time or part-time in one of our career and technical programs, this form provides the documentation you need to take advantage of these educational tax incentives.
Getting Started Is Easy
For Current Students (or students who enrolled in Fall 2026)
Log in to your FOCUS Student Portal
Navigate to the "Print 1098-Ts" button in the dropdown
Select the Year from the drop-down menu, and click “Print Official”
A box will appear containing a copy of your 1098-T
Select the option to print
For Students who Completed in Spring or Summer 2025
Navigate to the Focus Site at focus.ocps.net
Click on the "Forgot Password" button
Check your personal mail inbox used when you were a student at OTC
Follow the steps to reset your password and gain access to your FOCUS student portal
Navigate to the "Print 1098-Ts" button in the dropdown
Select the Year from the drop-down menu, and click “Print Official”
A box will appear containing a copy of your 1098-T
Select the option to print
Notes for Portal Users
- Students wishing to receive a 1098-T form will need both a social security number and a home address in their student portal for the form to be generated.
- If your 1098-T is not available in your student portal, double-check that your social security number and home address are populated and try to log in again.
- If you are unable to access your student portal in FOCUS or having trouble generating your 1098-T, please visit your campus business office.
